There's the phrase, "death & taxes," which points out those two as the only concrete certainties in life. According to Costco CFO, Richard Galanti, the legendary price of $1.50 for Costco's hot dog combo may be another constant to join that duo.

In a recent quarterly earnings call, Galanti noted, "I think the thing I mentioned earlier about there are some businesses that are doing well with margin… those things help us be more aggressive in other areas, or as you mentioned, hold the price on the hot dog and the soda a little longer, forever."

$1.50 forever ever? Forever ever? With prices surging due to inflation, such a prospect is a twinkle of hope that's much needed.
